WORLD CHAMPION DROPS INTO THE COLLEGE

Students from Club Doncaster Sports College had a visit from Super-Welterweight WBA and IBO world champion, Terri Harper this morning. They got the opportunity to hear Terri’s story, ask questions and have pictures with her and her world championship belts.

The Sports College would like to extend a huge thank you to Terri for taking time out of her training schedule to inspire our students.

Adam Clayton, Luke Molyneux, Ben Close, Louis Jones, Liam Ravenhill, Bobby Faulkner, Kyle Knoyle, Kyle Hurst and Joseph Olowu were all in attendance to speak to the students about the life of a footballer.

First team players were split across all of the classes during the visit, where students were given the opportunity to ask questions to the players, while learning about the day-to-day routines of a professional and discussing their experiences within the professional game.

Former student, Bobby Faulkner, now a regular feature within matches this season, also spoke to the students about his career pathway from Sports College student to professional footballer.

Principal of the Sports College, Adi Turnpenny said “‘It was great to having some of the first team squad visit the Sports College for the afternoon and especially to welcome back former student Bobby Faulkner who recently graduated from the College.”

“The students were able to ask questions based on the units they were studying which provided a great insight into the life of a professional footballer.”

Max Barwick, currently studying on the BTEC Level 3 said “It was great to meet the players, and learn about their professional backgrounds.”

“Especially Bobby Faulkner, who is an ex-student at college. To hear his story and how he has progressed into becoming a player for Doncaster Rovers, has given me the determination to focus on my studies and develop my football skills and game IQ.“

Alongside visiting the Sports College students, the players also sat down with CEO of the Foundation, John Davis, for a presentation on the support they can give to the Foundation by becoming ambassadors within different areas of work.
